During one of my courses at NEU, my professor showed examples of work produced by Pictal Health. This work really resonated with me as I have quite a few chronic health issues, many of which are yet to be properly diagnosed. The past few years have been particularly distressing for me, with new problems arising and never ending mental and financial difficulties with the healthcare system, so inspiration from Pictal Health came at just the right time. Over the course of a few weekends, I did my best to quantify and visualize the intensity of my issues as well as prescription medications over the years.

I don’t believe this project is anywhere near finished— it will surely continue to evolve over time. Unfortunately, I don’t have a full Squarespace membership, so I can’t include my coded version of this visualization, but it features a bit more user interaction that prompts further detail of each issue. Additionally, I’m currently in the early stages of a research project regarding perceived effectiveness of prescription medication, so I’d love to integrate that into my own personal life and this design eventually!
